St. George’s Church, Germantown (www.stgchurch.org), is a vibrant 82-year-old parish in a suburb of Memphis, Tennessee. With growing youth, family, and young adult ministries, engaging ministries for seniors, a magnificent music ministry, a highly-regarded preschool, and a campus which serves six different 12-step groups and a number of persons seeking recovery, St. George’s is a pillar of the Germantown faith community, enjoys an excellent relationship with ecumenical faith partners and places a firm emphasis on hands-on local servant ministry as well as funding support of other ministry organizations which serve the greater community.
St. George’s is seeking an Assistant Rector who will work closely with the Rector and share in the full range of ministry: preaching, teaching, pastoral care, liturgical planning, and program planning that will that help shape the faith formation of the entire diverse congregation. The ideal candidate: will be a priest in good standing in The Episcopal Church; will have excellent oral and written communication skills; will be a team player who works well and collaboratively with staff and lay persons; is organized and can administer programs while working within a budget.

The Youth Minister for Diversity is responsible for serving the young people of St. Mary’s Cathedral and young people in the St. Mary’s neighborhood in order to focus on issues of diversity, racial consciousness, and economic status. We seek a candidate who has passion to serve young people and is a strong teacher with a vibrant and joyful personality. Experience in diversity training and a high emotional intelligence is required. This person will need to be good communicator and equipped with a caring, pastoral presence. Being a self-starter and extrovert will be a plus. This position works in partnership St. Mary’s Director of Children and Youth Ministries and reports to the Dean of St. Mary’s. This is a part-time position, 15-20 hours a week. Being ordained is not a requirement. Position posted January 15 and open until filled. Salary commensurate with experience.
