Constance Abbey, an independent organization that ministers to the needs of the people of the neighborhood of St. Mary’s Cathedral, would like to invite you to its fundraiser at the Abbey, 209 Hamlin Place, around the corner from St. Mary’s. Come see what we’re up to – our mission is to empower marginalized neighbors by providing a safe place for hospitality, relationship, and advocacy so that together we can create a healthy community. We will be offering wine, cheese, hors d’oeuvres, and the opportunity to take a tour of the Abbey and meet the staff.
We ask for a donation of $25 and, in the tradition of many Southern churches, a “pounding,” or the gift of a pound of non-perishable groceries and everyday supplies, to help to stock the pantry. Examples of items we use every day are: Laundry powder, Shampoo, Body wash, Peanut butter, Jelly, or Lemonade Mix. If you’d rather we shop for you, here’s what a pound of coins and dollars amounts to: Pennies: $1.80, Nickels: $4.50, Dimes: $20, Quarters $20, Dollar Bills $454.
