On Sunday, April 8, Church of the Holy Apostles will host the Joliet West High School Concert Choir at the 9:00 a.m. worship service. The 45-member Concert Choir will lead the musical portions of our service and bring several anthems.
Located in the southwest suburbs of Chicago, Joliet West High School is home to over 3300 students. The Concert Choir of Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors is an auditioned group which consistently takes top honors in state, regional and national competitions. The Concert Choir has been named “Grand Champion” at Chicago’s Music in the Parks Festival on four occasions. In 2016, the choir received a superior rating at the Nashville Choir Contest.
Since 2003, the choir has been directed by Tim DeBoer. Mr. DeBoer holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from North Park University in Chicago, and a Master’s Degree in Music Education from VanderCook College of Music in Chicago. Mr. DeBoer has twice been nominated for a Grammy Award for Outstanding Teacher. In 2016, Mr. DeBoer was named a “Teacher of Distinction” by the Golden Apple Foundation and in 2017, Mr. DeBoer was named a Celebrated Teacher by DePaul University.
